LOGANENERGY ANNOUNCES AWARD OF DOD FUEL CELL PROGRAM
Fuel cell projects to deploy 19 units among 9 US locations
Roswell, GA - The US Army Corps of Engineers ERDC/CERL has contracted LOGANEnergy Corporation, a private fuel cell services company specializing in planning, developing, and implementing fuel cell projects, to deploy 19 fuel cell back-up power systems at 9 different US locations. Funding for the project was provided by the US Department of Energy.
The 19 units totaling 217 kilowatts will be deployed among various federal sites across the country to supply electricity to critical electric loads. LOGAN has contracted with several fuel cells manufacturers including Altergy Systems, Hydrogenics Corporation, IdaTech LLC and ReliOn Inc. to supply products for the demonstration program.
"We believe this program offers fresh evidence of the government's continued commitment to stimulate broad market appeal by promoting fuel cell products in real world applications. LOGAN is very excited to have a leading role in doing so" said Keith Spitznagel, LOGANEnergy's SVP of Marketing. "Based on our decade's long experience with government fuel cell programs, we believe this one will not only stimulate those markets but also private sector markets toward broader adoption of fuel cell products and applications."
The fuel cells will be configured as uninterruptable power supplies and will operate whenever there is a local electrical grid failure. The host sites, including Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and NASA facilities, have selected important electrical loads to demonstrate the reliability of the fuel cell technology. The systems will be monitored for a period of two years.
